Handmaiden Luxe Thrum Mitten Kits
Handmaiden Luxe Thrum Mitten Kits are a delicious combination of hand-dyed merino-cashmere blend yarn and merino roving. They're soft, cozy, and delicious! Plus, they're made right here in Canada. Each kit is individually hand-dyed, no two will be exactly alike. Sizes included are Adult S(M, L). Kits DO NOT include needles: 4mm/US6 double-pointed needles.
PLEASE NOTE: Each kit is a unique adventure and no two are alike! The green pair in the photo is a sample of pattern and how the kit may work out, we don't have anything exactly like them.

What is a Thrum?
Thrumming is a very old technique that is seriously fun and functional. Small tufts of roving (wool that hasn't been spun into yarn yet) are knit into the garment creating a fuzzy warm layer on the inside and irresistible dots of colour the outside. As you wear them, the thrummed roving felts down, keeping your hands warm and cozy (take note dog owners, these are ideal winter dog walking mitts). The mittens will be the colour of the yarn and the thrums (roving) will peek through.
Is thrumming hard to do? Definitely not, but you should make a pair or regular mittens first so you get used to using double-pointed needles and understand mitten construction before you dive into the fluffy world of thrumming. Below are two videos from Very Pink Knits on thrumming.
